About the artist:
Tom Kelley's work has been published in numerous books, signs, brochures and
reports by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where has worked as a graphic
artist and illustrator for the past 27 years. He was also the art director
for the Minnesota Waterfowler magazine before it ceased being published.
"The diversity of subject matter is stimulating
and educational. I'm fortunate to work with such an avid group of sportsman."
Art is an enjoyable, expressive experience for Tom. His expressionistic style
is a "nonrepresentational attempt to personify wildlife.
Everyone is, to some degree, a non-representational artist, painting a picture
of the world that expresses their view of reality."
Tom uses form and color as symbols of nature in an attempt "to
capture the spirit of the creature and its environment." He avoids excessive
detail because it "tends
to obscure the message."
Tom lives in Minnesota with his wife and three boys.
